Jamie Parrish

Jamie Parrish is a functional ceramic artist from Phoenix, AZ. In 1995, she fell in love with wheel throwing in a high school pottery class. Life pulled her in another direction, but she never forgot the feeling of being connected to the earth through clay. In 2016, she immersed herself again in ceramics by enrolling in the first of many community education classes while working at Fired Up Studios. Jamie graduated from MN NICE, an advanced certificate program at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN in the fall of 2019. You can now find Jamie in her desert backyard studio, throwing pots and soaking up sunshine.

About Jamie Parrish

Artist Statement

"My work is a visual conversation between the straight lines and standard geometric shapes of civilizations, the fractal geometry of nature, and their transitions into and away from each other. I reference topics such as control, decay, change, conflict, and harmony which emerge in the story of our coexistence with the natural world, it’s movement towards balance, and the forces that oppose it."
